GERMANY might put some parts of Croatia on its red list, Croatia's Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlic Radman said on Thursday ahead of a cabinet meeting.
Grlic Radman said that he had spoken with his German counterpart Heiko Maas on Wednesday. He said that Germany was not expected to declare all of Croatia epidemiologically unsafe.
"They will do it partially," said Grlic Radman who believes that those counties with a poorer epidemiological situation could find themselves on Germany's red list.
"That decision is yet to be made," he underscored.
Slovenia will put Croatia on its red list today
Slovenia's government is expected to put Croatia on its red list on Thursday.
All Slovenians currently vacationing in Croatia, who wish to avoid 14-day quarantine, will have to return to Slovenia before the end of this week, a spokesman for Slovenia's government, Jelko Kacin, said on Wednesday.
Great Britain, too, may do the same. A decision of that nature could impact a thousand British tourists currently staying in Croatia.
Grlic Radman underlined that in the current situation countries were being guided by the epidemiological situation but also by their own interests. He underscored that Croatia's tourism had achieved significant results thus far.
"Tourists are accustomed to going to traditional destinations. I think that the results we have achieved are beyond our expectations."
According to the latest data by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, Croatia has 37.7 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 persons and based on those indicators, in the past two weeks it ranked 9th of 41 countries analysed on a daily basis.
Germany had 17.9, Britain 21, and Slovenia 12.8 cases per 100,000 population in that period.
