CROATIAN Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic’s coronavirus test result came back.

Plenkovic does not have coronavirus.

“Following his brief stay at the Adria tour in Zadar on Saturday, although he was neither in contact with the infected tennis players nor in close contact with other players, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, given his responsible position, has today been tested for coronavirus. The test result is negative,” the Croatian government announced.

They also announced that the test isn’t going to be repeated.

We asked the government if they will repeat the test

“There’s no need for repeat testing. According to the opinion of epidemiologists and the Croatian Institute of Public Health, self-isolation is unnecessary due to the absence of close contact,” said the government’s spokesperson to Index.

Index was the first news portal to find out that Plenkovic will test on coronavirus, after his stay at the tennis tournament Adria Tour in Zadar on Saturday, which was stopped due to the unveiling of the Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov’s positive coronavirus test results.

There have been three more coronavirus cases linked to the tournament confirmed in Zadar this morning. Croatian tennis player Borna Coric, as well as Dimitrov and Novak Djokovic’s coaches, are also among them.

Plenkovic was in contact with several tennis players, such as Djokovic, whose test result is still awaited, but the government told Index that he wasn’t in close contact, nor he shook hands with anyone.

“The Prime Minister was neither in contact with Coric nor Dimitrov. He was in contact with Ivanisevic, Cilic, and Djokovic, all of whom he briefly spoke with. The conversation lasted several minutes, maybe two or three minutes. There were no handshakes and close contact,” the government stated for Index.

What was Plenkovic doing in Zadar?

Besides Plenkovic, former Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic was also there at the tournament.

On Saturday, Plenkovic pointed out that the humanitarian tournament is “a big promotion for Zadar and Croatia in the world.” Plenkovic greeted some tennis players in Zadar, such as Cilic and Djokovic, which were in direct contact with the infected Dimitrov.

Just like other spectators, Plenkovic also wasn’t keeping social distance.
