BOSNIA and Herzegovina saw a record daily number of deaths due to coronavirus with 16 new fatalities amid 173 new cases of the disease in the last 24 hours, local health authorities informed on Monday.
In the past 24 hours, ten people died in the Federation entity and 596 tests were taken confirming 73 positive cases.
The other six people died in the Republika Srpska entity where 519 tests were conducted and identified 98 new cases of SARS-CoV-2. Another two cases were confirmed in the Brcko District.
The main hot spots continue to be in the capital, Sarajevo and in Banja Luka.
Sarajevo Canton's COVID-19 response team claims that the spread of the disease is under control.
"There has been a slight improvement and we expect a fall (in the number of infected people)", the head of the Sarajevo Canton crisis management authority, Kemal Beganovic said.
