Slovenia registers 31 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours
IN THE past 24 hours 1,118 coronavirus tests were conducted in Slovenia and 31 new cases of the infection were confirmed but no new deaths occurred, Slovenia's government said on Wednesday.
That is the highest number of new cases in one day registered this month.
COVID-19 infections have been confirmed in 15 municipalities throughout the country. Most of the latest infections are in Ljubljana and one foreign citizen is among those infected, media outlets have reported.
POP-TV has reported that 13 of the latest cases are young people aged between 15 and 24.
The trend of young people contracting the infection is concerning, government spokesman Jelko Kacin said on Tuesday.
Kacin announced that a meeting would be held next week with school principals to discuss how the next school year would be organised in light of the epidemic.
There are currently 188 active cases in the country, with three of the latest cases being medical staff, the media has reported.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic there have been 2,303 cases of the coronavirus disease in the country and 129 people have died.
