The Croatian borders are open for tourists from 10 countries. Here are the details
A MEETING of the cabinet was called in the National University Library. In the opening statement, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic confirmed that Croatia is completely opening its borders for a number of countries.
The Croatian borders are open for tourists from ten European countries
Plenkovic stated that excellent results in the past couple of days led to this decision.
“We’ve succeeded in fighting the epidemic at half-time. We’ve made a plan to change the decision regarding the temporary ban on crossing the state border for citizens of a number of countries, for tourism purposes. The decision applies to Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, and Germany. According to our analysis and the epidemiological situation, these are the countries with similar results, or the trends allow us to make this decision. The epidemiological recommendations will have to be followed, and a special application has been made for the arrival of the foreign nationals of the previously mentioned countries for the tourist season,” said Plenkovic.
He also stated that he’s confident that, as the situation progresses, the other countries will be added to the list.
Minister of Interior Davor Bozinovic explained that the citizens of these ten countries from the list would no longer have to state the reasons for entering the Republic of Croatia, and they will enter the country as before the coronavirus pandemic.
Bozinovic explained how everything works
He said that the epidemiological control still applies to foreign nationals, as well as the responsibility to follow the general and specific recommendations of the Croatian Institute for Public Health.
“The entry of foreign nationals to Croatia will be recorded; they will have to give information about their place of destination, a mobile phone number, and an email address to contact them for epidemiological reasons. To prevent crowds on borders, we recommend that foreign nationals provide their information in advance via web page entercroatia.mup.hr, which will be available as of today,” said Bozinovic. He added that the form on the web page is available in Croatian and English, and will be available in other languages in a few days, as well as the epidemiological instructions.
That will, said Bozinovic, speed up the border crossing because the border police will already have the necessary information.
“The passengers that don’t provide the information in advance will be able to do so at border crossing points, but they will probably wait in a separate line as it will take more time,” revealed Bozinovic.
