Wreckage of a World War II Allied bomber was found near Vis
AFTER 76 years, the wreckage of the Allied bomber Impatient Virgin II was found at a depth of almost a hundred meters in the Bisevo Channel.
The group of divers from the Manta Diving Center in Komiza that found this wreckage also found the wreckage of an airplane of the same type in that water area last year, reports HRT.
The Impatient Virgin II patiently waited to be found for nearly eight decades. The bomber with an interesting name crashed in June 1944, after 34 bombing operations. Its wreckage was found near the wreckage of another B24 plane, Organized Confusion, which was discovered by the same group last year.
"So far, we have found two planes on Svetac, and two planes on Bisevo, and five planes in total. Allegedly 27 of them crashed, and another one was found. That means there are 20 more left," Lorenz Markovic from the Manta Diving Center in Komiza stated for HRT.
The wreckage of the Impatient Virgin II lies scattered near the wreckage of the Organized Confusion.
