Muhammad Ali will be remembered by these fights
MUHAMMAD ALI, the best boxer, and according to some, the greatest athlete of all time, passed away on June 3, 2016, at the age of 75.
He was born on January 17, 1942, as Cassius Clay, and when he was only 18, he won the Olympic gold in the light heavyweight category in Rome. After that, he started a magnificent professional career during which he achieved 56 victories and was defeated five times.
He soon converted to Islam and took the name under which he became a legend, not only as a boxer but also as an activist, after refusing to join the military because he opposed the Vietnam War.
In 1984, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He passed away in 2016, the day after he was rushed to a hospital due to breathing problems. The official cause of death was septic shock.
His career was marked by fights with Joe Frazier and George Foreman in an era that is considered the golden era of his sport. Former US President Bill Clinton told Ali that he looked like a ballerina, but that he hit harder than anyone.
